Dear students, welcome to this module entitled "Natural Language Processing for Linguists" (NLP3111). Your active participation in the module shall help you to realize your potentials in the field of Natural Language Processing, which is one of the sub-fields of Artificial Intelligence (ai). 

Course Summary

The module is expected to provide students with with hands-on skills in the field of natural language processing for machine learning with a focus on machine translation. As such, participants must be enabled to understand the basic concepts of Natural Language Processing as related to linguistic dataset creation and dataset annotation for Machine Translation. Participants must also acquire sustainable competences in the field of natural language processing for linguists based on their participation in different practical sessions. The module is structured in separate but interrelated units, each with specific categories of content that are designed to be covered (e.g. language dataset collection and creation, language dataset annotation, corpus linguistics theories, etc.).
