Brief description and Module content

This module outlines theories of conflict resolution, long-term Peace building and reconstruction. It also aims to Post conflicts political and social management, Post conflict reconstruction and development. Conflict resolution theorizing will be linked to the conflict cycle and use of various mechanisms to handle conflicts.  It is applied in conflicts situations in African context.

Brief description of aims and content

This module analyses the linkages between, economic policies, development (Analysis of debates on human security, development and conflict. The major questions are related to how economic policies can be used in creating peace, how have policies been used historically to create stability? How can economic policies drive peace or conflict globally, nationally and locally? Several competing theories will be critically examined and discussed in relation to the GLR and Africa in general.

In this Module various theories of the global system formation, actors, and issues are presented and discussed. It analyses the impact of global systems and various actors’ on international security in general, and the GLR in particular.
