The module aims to equip students with the knowledge and confidence to help them to develop skills, attitudes and values to successfully implement the mathematics CBC at secondary schools. The module deepens the concepts introduced in Module MAT 1141 by exploring functions in one real variable through topology of IR, series and sequences, limits and continuity of functions, polynomial, trigonometric, exponential and logarithmic functions, derivative and applications, integrals and applications.
The module MAT1141, Basic Mathematics, aims to equip all UR-CE year one students,
having mathematics and science subjects in their combinations, with competences
from some mathematical concepts (sets
and mathematical logic, algebra and geometry, calculus and differential
equation, statistics and combinatory & introduction to programming languages)
and their applications to chemistry, biology, physics, economics, geography, ICT and Physical Sports.
This module will introduce to you different concepts of description statistics such as different types of data, methods of data correction, data presentation, measures of central tendency and dispersion. Probability helps us to make decision when we are not sure of what will be the outcome. This module will introduces to you to concepts of counting techniques, the sample space, event and the probability on an event. The axioms of probability, the concept of random variable, and the some discrete as well as continuous distribution functions will discussed with clear examples found in our daily life.
