Module description
This module is designed to prepare students with a comprehensive understanding of the biochemical basis of human diseases and the laboratory tests used to guide their diagnosis and management. The student will have a strong foundation in the principles and practices of clinical biochemistry and Hematology required to understand the molecular characteristics, and metabolic changes associated with disease processes, as well as the means of diagnostic investigations.
It will also help students acquire skills to handle the related laboratory samples and equipment for appropriate diagnosis. This module contains the structures, characteristics, and functions of different bio-molecules, their role in metabolic processes, and clinical tests used to diagnose the related diseases as well as the principles for interpretation of their results.
This module is designed to prepare student nurses to work professionally obeying the rules of good conduct and the legal framework guiding the nursing profession. It introduces the student to the profession of nursing and how to deal with different nursing situations in an ethical manner and within the limits of the law. It will also cover interprofessional collaboration to characterize the profession when providing nursing care to individuals, families, groups, and communities.
Aim of module
This module aims at providing knowledge concerning the history of the nursing profession, skills to deal with different nursing issues, and communication skills needed during care provision.
Learning outcomes of this module
1. Identify ethical theories and principles related to ethical decision making
2. Practice within the ethical and legal framework of the nursing profession and apply the principles of a therapeutic relationship in interaction with clients.
3. Apply therapeutic and non-therapeutic communication techniques in the interactions with clients with respect to rules and regulations in nursing practice.
4. Demonstrate professional values when providing health care and apply the nursing ethics, values, and professional code of conduct.
Module description and aim
The aim of this module is to equip student with knowledge, skills, and attitude enabling him/her to manage patients with common microbiological and parasitic diseases.
It will help learners to understand the characteristic of microbiological and parasitic diseases and their specific interactions with human body as the basis to recognize the signs, symptoms, and their epidemiological features as well as decide the required diagnostic investigations and management including preventive measures at different levels of health care system. The student will be engaged in laboratory equipment handling and sample processing to equip them with skills required for common microbial and parasitic laboratory investigationsThis course aims to provide students with thorough anatomical knowledge with an emphasis on human body structures. With its comprehensive knowledge spanning the fundamentals to the advanced, it will give students an understanding of how systems integrate with one another. The information is intended to give students the foundational knowledge they need to develop a professional curriculum for a career in the medical field. The structural organization and interaction of organs and body systems are addressed using the systems approach.
