Dear Student, welcome to the COMPETITION AND CONSUMER PROTECTION LAW CLASS

The course Competition and Consumer Protection Law aims at introducing students to the rules, sources, organs and enforcement of Competition and Consumer Protection in Rwandan and in General.

The Course is structured into various chapters and Topics to enable the student to cover all aspects of the Competition and Consumer Protection Law.

Various resources will be used and students activities and assignments shall be used in the assessment of the student's knowledge of the course.

Topic 1 covers The aim and purpose of Competition Law, Topic 2 covers Prohibited Practices, their effects and exemptions under Rwandan Competition Law, Topic 3 covers The aim and purpose of Consumer Protection Law while lastly Topic 4 covers Consumer’s and Seller’s rights and obligations, and remedies under Rwandan Consumer Protection Law.

Law nº36/2012 of 21/09/2012 relating to competition and consumer protection, Official Gazette nº 46 of 12/11/2012 shall be the key material for the course but various other course materials shall be used for deeper analysis and diversification.
