Semester 1

Course description

The module aims at giving opportunity to student to conceive, design and develop a research proposal. This research proposals should contain extensive literature reviews, detailed methodology for conducting the research and must also offer convincing support of need for the research study being proposed. The research proposal must approve by a panel of experts in the topic proposed by the student, before the actual research can begin.

 

Learning Outcomes

Having successfully completed the module, students should be able to:

  1. Describe the concepts and principles related to the development of the selected research topic;
  2. Apply appropriate methods and techniques towards the achievement of the defined research objectives;
  3. Identify and select appropriate equipment, tools and techniques for collecting the required data and information for achieving the research objectives and answering the research questions;
  4. Use appropriate equipment, software packages and techniques tools to produce a well-edited research proposal report;
  5. Develop with little guidance of the supervisor a research proposal and look for additional information relevant to the research topic using various research techniques.
  6. Successfully defend the developed research proposal before a panel of specialists;

Semester 1

In this module, you will follow a systematic approach to data analysis as you learn how to use ArcGIS Geostatistical Analyst. You will work with a number of different spatial interpolation methods and data exploration tools. You will also learn about the different types of spatial surfaces that can be created with the Kriging interpolator.
