This module provides the initial introduction to the basic principles and techniques of dentoalveolar surgery, emphasising on pre-surgical patient evaluation and risk assessment, risk management, instrumentation, infection control and aseptic technique, basic surgical principles, postoperative management of surgical complications, and postoperative management of the surgical patient. Furthermore, imaging 1 is also covered. The History of radiation, production of radiation, equipment, radiation physics and biology, including safety in radiation, patient selection, positioning, processing of films and radiographic errors, and digital imaging are also covered.

Course image DTH2251: Oral Diseases
Trimester 2

Dear students,

This module covers the pathologic basis of oral diseases especially the structural and functional manifestations of diseases of the oral and para-oral structures. The module equips the student with knowledge and skills to identify and diagnose primary oral diseases. This module also describes oral medicine, principles of diagnosis of oral manifestations of systemic diseases and management of diseases of the oral mucosa and salivary gland.

The Continuous assessment will be the Online Quizzes, Assignments and Discussions. Final Examinations will be multiple choice question exams.
