Module Name: Occupational Therapy in Mental Health Module Code: OTH2253 Number of Credits: 20 Number of Hours: 200 Module Leader: Kareem Kayode Ayodeji Module Aim: The purpose of the course is to give the learners an understanding of the principles and concepts of occupational therapy in mental health and to identify the place for occupational therapy in mental health care in Rwanda. This approach aims to increase the critical awareness and reasoning skills of the students and to develop their views on this topic. Course image OTH2151: OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY TECHNIQUES
TRIMESTER 1

This module introduces learners to a wide range of OT techniques that can be implemented in different circumstances, as well as a variety of functional aids.  The module enables learners to demonstrate knowledge about different techniques used in OT. The learner gains decision making skills, based on knowledge, to implement a certain technique in order to facilitate the client in gaining functional independence.  Learners are equipped with knowledge of the range and value of human activity, and the skills to use activity therapeutically to meet individual client need.
