The aim of this course is to provide third-year undergraduate pharmacy students with a comprehensive understanding of good pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical care, nursing care, and first aid. 

Students will develop essential knowledge and skills to ensure the safe, effective, and patient-centered delivery of pharmaceutical services in various healthcare settings. 

This course will emphasize the importance of collaboration between pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in optimizing patient outcomes and promoting public health.


Course image PHA3251: PHYSICAL PHARMACY AND DRUG MANUFACTURE
Trimester I

Pharmaceutics is the science of dosage form design. This module covers an overview of physical pharmacy and the principles of pre-formulation, formulation, manufacture and quality testing of the conventional dosage forms including tablets, capsules, suppositories, solutions, syrups, and suspensions.

The module of Physical Pharmacy and drug manufacture has been designed for you to introduce to you the main principles of drug manufacture, starting by being familiar with the physical characteristics of raw materials of drug manufacture, physical characteristics of finished pharmaceutical products that are part of quality control of medicines.

The modules has 5 topics that will lead you on drug formulation and drug productions.

Design and explain the technical procedures used in formulation, compounding and conservation of solid medicines (compacted forms, powders, capsules, suppositories);  7. Design and explain the technical procedures used in formulation, compounding and conservation of liquid medicines (solutions, emulsions, suspensions);
