This module analyses environmental issues that are critical to our planet with a particular emphasis on developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. It takes a political and ecological approach to environment and development, focusing on the politics of the relationship between humankind and nature, issues of unequal access to resources, etc. Here, attention will be paid to international policy dimensions, looking at the origins of thinking about sustainability and sustainable development, their evolution to the present day and how sustainable development is embedded in international policies.
