This course is adopted from “Agri-Commodity Value Chain Analysis & Management (ACVCA)” under the module        “Financial Management (AEC_4122)” administered to AGEC Year_4 students by the School of Agriculture and Food Sciences (SASF); Department of Rural Development and Agricultural Economics (RDAE).

 

For the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (I&D) - Year 4 students (School of Agricultural Engineering and Environmental Management (SAEEM) it is offered as “Agri-Chain-Management (4 Credits)” under the module “(Agricultural) Financial Management”. Accordingly, the broader aims and objectives of the course remain the same. However, students are advised to reflect on Agri-Value Chains compatible with Irrigation & drainage; and/or agricultural mechanization.

 

6.1 Brief description of aims; and course content

6.1.1. Aim and objectives:

The main objective of this course is two=fold:

i)                 To equip students with a clear understanding of the meaning, importance and rationale for promoting VC approaches in promoting agricultural transformation for development; and

ii)                To equip students with competences and capabilities to conduct VC mapping and critical analyses; with a view to identifying gaps to address; and devise appropriate strategic action plans to address them.
