This module aims to equip post-graduate students from Centres of Excellence at UR-CST with skills to make professional research and publish their works. Academic writing is generally quite formal, objective (impersonal) and technical. It is formal by avoiding casual or conversational language, such as contractions or informal vocabulary. It is impersonal and objective by avoiding direct reference to people or feelings and instead emphasises objects, facts and ideas
This is the course site for the two semester class Advanced Microeconomics tought by instructures from Kiel University and the University of Rwanda.
Aim of the class: Firms and consumers make choices for themselves and interact in various ways in the market place. This course prepares the theoretical groundwork for microeconomic policy courses elsewhere in the Master of Economics curriculum, highlighting traditional economic approaches, their normative foundations, and recent advances such as information economics and behavioral economics. By the end of the course the student will
- be familiar with the main, unifying microeconomics principles, and know how to analyze microeconomic problems using mathematical tools
- know the main concepts of consumer choice and firm behavior, and their relevance for equilibrium and welfare analysis
- be able to evaluate economic policy with regard to efficiency and equity and know of the limitations to economic policy
- know of core arguments from the economics of information and incentives
- be able to understand limitations of the homo economicus and current advances in behavioral economics
- know of problems of market failure and how to address them
- know of possibilities and limitations in applied policy fields, such as welfare analysis, and regulation of industry

This is to welcome you to the 3rd year first trimester’s Architectural Design III module. The theme is 'CULTURAL CONTEXTS' and is inspired by the unique concept of cultivating learning environments that are participatory, reflective, action-focused and change-oriented. In this trimester, we will focus on a comprehensive housing upgrading project serving as a pragmatic example of embracing informality in Kigali. Through a participatory design approach, supported by lectures, readers, charrettes, guest lectures, field visits and complimentary research packages in ‘water and sanitation’ and ‘made in Rwanda construction materials’, we will develop a scheme that responds to community culture, across all scales of the existing urban landscape as well as the social behaviours of the community it is designed for.

This is to welcome you to the 5th year first trimester module on Urban Anthropology.
In general, Urban anthropology is the study of cultural systems and identities in cities as well as the various political, social, economic, and cultural forces that shape urban forms and processes. However, the ARC5164 module focuses on examines urban life at different times and places. The goal of the course in this class year is to unpack the forces that act to shape and change cities and urban life as well as the resulting policy responses invented to solve the problems associated with the changes in order to improve the vision for the future city. The module is designed to support the final year thesis projects through relevant reader summaries and a better appreciation of the users and socio-cultural inter-relationships in their thesis projects.
This Module introduces to the students the essential basics of networking, including basic concepts and configurations for beginners in networking field.

This module will focus on developing knowledge, skills and attitudes in the care of children in primary, secondary and tertiary settings. The module equips learners to utilize the nursing process when examining children responses to illness, treatment and hospitalization. It emphasizes on therapeutic relationship among nurses, parents, care givers, and children during illness and recovery, and the creation of child-friendly health facilities. In addition, its emphasis also is placed on common health problems occurring in Rwanda and in Sub Saharan Africa Countries.
The English Placement Test is prepared for general language abilities for incoming new students at the University of Rwanda. The test results will allow the University of Rwanda- Centre for Language Enhancement (UR-CLE) to place the new students in different levels of English proficiency and support them accordingly.

This module describes how the student nurse will work professionally obeying the rules of good conduct and the legal framework in the nursing profession. this module introduces the students to the profession of nursing and how to deal with different nursing situations in an ethical manner and within limits of the law. it will also cover the therapeutic relationships that need to characterize the profession when providing nursing care to individuals, families, groups, and communities.
This module prepares the nursing student to professionally provide specialized care that meets basic health needs of the mentally ill client, geriatric clients, and those requiring palliative care.
The module also focuses on nursing management of clients with sensory system conditions. It enables student to manage holistically oral and pharyngeal conditions. This course includes preparing students to effectively provide counseling to clients and families.

In this module, the students will understand the chemistry of major and minor components of food, and how they relate to metabolic functions.
Using technology provides many opportunities to enable learning but also it brings with it expectations for a new role for teachers and for learners. Why is that important? Teachers need two skills beyond their subject knowledge:
1) ICT skills and comfort with technology tools, and
2) Pedagogical practice aligned with meaningful student-centred learning.
This module integrates these two components together and this dynamism must be reflected in the planning, conduct and validation of your teaching and learning practice. Renal Conditions module will encompasses almost all the pathologies of the kidney, related investigations, clinical manifestations, pathophysiological mechanisms and management.

Also, observing for desired effects, managing any adverse effect of drugs, providing appropriate health education and monitoring of drugs to patients across the lifespan.

10.Learning and Teaching Strategy
Teaching and learning strategies will include interactive lectures, audio-visual, role play, storytelling, case based education, problem based learning, case studies, brainstorming, discussion boards, peer partner learning, and reflective journaling among others.

Formative and summative assessments will be used to monitor achievement of learning outcomes. Students will be assessed formatively during in-course assessment (CAT) within lectures and through assignments. The summative assessment will be done through Continuous and Final assessments.

13. Strategy for feedback and student support during module
Learners will be offered the opportunity to meet with their lecturers at mutually convenient times throughout the module. An online communication social networking mechanism, (for example: email, LinkedIn, Moodle, twitter, or group Facebook), will be used to allow both one-on-one and group feedback and support. Additionally, formative and continuous assessment will be used to gauge learners’ progress, with timely distribution of results to learners. Faculty will monitor individual learner progress throughout the duration of the module.
