Trimester 3

This module aims at providing students with knowledge and understand of the specificities of intellectual property rights (IPs) as kind of property as well as the peculiar legal norms governing IPs.  It looks at the Rwandan legislation on intellectual property in terms of different IPs recognized by that legislation as well as the conditions of their respective protection. It also looks at the national, regional and international institutional frameworks on the protection of IPs.

  

Course image LAW 5239: REGULATION OF PUBLIC SERVICE UTILITIES
Trimester 3

Dear student,

This module identifies the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed in an environment where Public Service Utilities (herein referred to as Utilities) are prevalent. The learning curriculum is designed to provide the basis for general knowledge about Utilities and their regulation, comparison with Utilities in advanced countries, and mapping of the state of Utilities in Rwanda.

The objective of this module is to provide students with skills and knowledge in the promotion and delivering of public utility services that contribute to the long-term economic development of the country and the well-being of its people.

At the end of the module, students will be able to:
1. possess a basic knowledge of Utilities;
2. use domestically acquired Utility skills from developed countries;
3. assess Utilities in Rwanda.

Course image LAW4115 : International Criminal Law
Trimester 3

The module of International Criminal Law is among the core courses required for students to complete their undergraduate program in Law at the University of Rwanda. It provides students with substantial understanding of rules and principles of Internationbal Criminal Law which are designed both to proscribe certain categories of conduct and to make persons who engage in them criminally liable. This includes, therefore, rules that authorize states, or impose upon them the obligation to prosecute and punish such criminal conducts.
