In fact, students ‘abilities to communicate in a language greatly determines their potentiality to cope with their courses. The present document is about General English, Unit III. The module handout presents the basics of English for first year students in the third semester.
This 5-credit module aims at developing an advanced proficiency level in English with a view to helping students develop English language skills that will allow them to communicate professional skills through the practice of the four language communication skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The module also contains functional and situational language. Although the components making up the module are presented as separate outcomes, they are interrelated, so they should be taught using integrative approach. Therefore, as much as possible all activities will try to offer opportunities to practice all of them with emphasis put on the 4 skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
