Course image GNU: CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY AND HEMATOLOGY
Semester one

This module is designed to prepare students with a comprehensive understanding of the biochemical basis of human diseases and the laboratory tests used to guide their diagnosis and management. The student will have a strong foundation in the principles and practices of clinical biochemistry and Hematology required to understand the molecular characteristics, and metabolic changes associated with disease processes, as well as the means of diagnostic investigations. It will also help students acquire skills to handle the related laboratory samples and equipment for appropriate diagnosis.

This module contains the structures, characteristics, and functions of different bio-molecules, their role in metabolic processes, and clinical tests used to diagnose the related diseases as well as the principles for interpretation of their results.

This module describes how the student nurse will work professionally obeying the rules of good conduct and the legal framework in the nursing profession. this module introduces the students to the profession of nursing and how to deal with different nursing situations in an ethical manner and within limits of the law. it will also cover the therapeutic relationships that need to characterize the profession when providing nursing care to individuals, families, groups, and communities.
