This will be an introduction to the environmental aspects of architectural design and to an analysis of the form that landscapes take and the processes and ideals leading to those forms. Students will learn the relationship of the landscape to microclimates and building environments.

This course looks at modern art and it will enable students to grasp the most challenging theories about art today. Students will be encouraged to engage in critical thinking as well as allow them to develop their own ideas in dialogue with fellow students and lecturers

Trimester 2

This course provides an in-depth education in the visual arts.
The knowledge provided equips students to respond creatively to life and design challenges. This course gives students the opportunity to develop their work across a broad range of media - electronic and digital media, sound and performance.
An experimental and critical approach is encouraged, with specialist input from academic staff who are practitioners in the field and able to bring a wide range of both conceptual and practical expertise to the course.

Course image CRD-2215: Modelling Technology 2 - Design Studio IV
Trimester 2

The aim and objectives of this course is to introduce students to 2D and 3D computer generated workflows through a series of short lectures, laboratory and hands-on exercises some of which are project based. Students will gain an understanding of how 3D modelling is applied in real projects in product design, craft and the maker movements as well as the new capabilities of 3D printing.

Brief Description

The course focuses on the application of designs and aesthetics to objects of function and everyday use. The students are led to understanding the field of industrial design, graphic design, fashion design, and interior design in relation to decorative and functional arts to be considered as applied arts.

Course image CRD 2212: Digital Imaging
Trimester 2

This module will equip students with hands-on skills and practices that are applied in creation of illustration and photographic manipulation. Attention will focus on exposing students towards the creation of communicative ideas through practical projects. With aid of up-to-date tools and methods in preparing image for both Print and Web output, students will focus on image authenticity and shall also explore their creativity in the age of the Internet.

Learning outcomes:

At the end of the module, students should be able to demonstrate proficiency in using professional design software for illustration and photographic manipulation. Students should also be able address current issues affecting the society through the use of digital imagery. Furthermore, this module will introduce students to different specializations such as: Graphic Design, Interactive Design and Web Design. To achieve this, students will enhance their proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Photoshop. They will learn to give and receive constructive criticism & feedback on visual design projects.

Module delivery:

This is a studio-based module. Much emphasis will be put on practical sessions, these will supported by theories of the principals guiding digital imagery.
