Dear participant, I take the time to welcome you to the module of Applied Environmental Microbiology

Module aim

This module is aimed at providing students with practical applications of microbiology in environmental contexts. It covers topics such as soil microbiology, air microbiology, and water microbiology, and waste treatment techniques.

Intended course outcomes:

Having completed the module, students should be able to understand the role of microorganisms in environmental processes, including their impact on ecosystems and biogeochemical cycles. Proficiency in identifying and analyzing microbial communities present in various environmental samples. Knowledge of pollution remediation techniques involving microbial processes, such as bioremediation and bioaugmentation. Ability to apply microbiological methods for monitoring and assessing environmental quality and pollution levels. Familiarity with the principles of microbial ecology and their application in sustainable environmental management practices.
